Policy Statement and Background
The vaccination has shown to provide the best protection against COVID-19. KLC College understands and acknowledges the risks of COVID-19, its severity, and its transmissibility, especially with the prevalence of the Delta variant of concern. Health and safety of our students, staff, faculty, and our community remain our utmost priority.
This fall, KLC College requires all the students, employees, contractors, volunteers intending to be present on our campus to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide a valid proof of vaccination in full accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
We understand that Public Health Guidelines are ever changing and may continue to evolve which could affect this policy.
KLC College will accept full series of a COVID-19 vaccine or combination of COVID-19 vaccines approved by Health Canada and/or World Health Organization (WHO).
COVID-19 Vaccination Timeframe
All the individuals must attest to have received at least one dose of Health Canada and/or WHO approved COVID-19 vaccine by September 30, 2021 and must receive their final required dose no later than October 30, 2021.
Individuals who received a vaccine other than those approved by Health Canada and/or WHO will not be allowed on campus until 14 days after either having received their approved single-dose vaccine or the first dose of an approved double-dose vaccine.
All the partially vaccinated employees will also have to provide a plan for getting fully vaccinated no later than September 20, 2021 and must obtain a fully vaccinated status no later than October 30, 2021.
Those who are still awaiting their second dose or have received an approved exemption (medical exemption or any other form of accommodation under the Ontario Human Rights Code) must participate in Rapid Screening Test against COVID-19 antigen and provide proof of a negative result before visiting campus, and may be subject to additional safety measures. According to the college’s policy, mandatory testing of required individuals shall be done at least once a week starting September 7, 2021.
Proof of Vaccination
All the employees and staff will have to provide a proof of vaccination against COVID-19. The proof of vaccination must be an official document provided by the Ministry of Health. The document must clearly state the name of the individual, the vaccination product type, and date of administration of vaccine.
COVID-19 vaccination in Ontario, receipts can be downloaded or printed through the COVID-19 vaccination provincial portal or by calling the Provincial Vaccine Booking Line at 1-833-943-3900. This version of the COVID-19 vaccine receipt contains a watermark and a digital signature to deter forgery.
Personal health information, including any proofs of vaccination, collected by the college will be stored in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of privacy Act (FIPPA). Individuals’ private health information will not be disclosed alongside any other identifying data.
KLC College will consider exemption based on individual requests from students and employees with valid medical reason for not being fully vaccinated and/or religious beliefs.
To continue to protect the health and safety of the campus community, at the sole discretion of the college, students or employees with an approved exemption to being vaccinated may be accommodated and allowed to attend activities on campus only after providing proof of negative COVID-19 results. All the exempted individuals will have to adhere to getting tested against COVID-19 virus at least once in 7 days.
All the students and employees with no proof of vaccination must attend an educational session about the benefits and risks of COVID-19 vaccination prior to declining vaccination for any reason other than a medical reason.
